EMERGENCY IN THE AGE OF QUARANTINE!

Apocalypse Now

It’s no longer somebody else’s Business

19 March 2020

Shubhrangshu Roy

It’s knocking on your door!

This is no rant alert!

I am on my way home from a well-known doctor at a reputed private hospital right now. His advice:’Stock up on your family’s medicines, I may not be around for long to see my regular patients. It could stop any day, any time.’

He shared this memo from the Director at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and said the outpatient departments at AIIIMS and RML Hospital have already been shut, so have the OPDs in all Delhi government hospitals since last evening. (I haven’t gone around from hospital to hospital to check if that’s true. If not already, it might well be very soon.

Private hospitals have been put on alert to shut down OPDs as well. ‘It’s only a matter of time before we stop seeing patients at OPDs. Only emergency and ICU services will operate at all hospitals across Delhi-NCR.’

I asked him if he was sacred and he said: ‘Yes, I am scared for my family. But I have no choice.’

I closed my eyes and whispered a silent prayer for my Doc! You must do it too.

In any case, don’t panic. Check it out with your doc and heed his/her advice.

And make it a point to hear the Prime Minster tonight.

Every word of what he says… even if you don’t like the look of him.

Above all...

TAKE CARE!
